We were pleased to participate in the official launch of the Bangla Edition of the Sphere Handbook 2018, marking an important milestone for Bangladesh’s humanitarian sector. The Sphere Handbook is one of the world’s most widely recognised references for quality and accountable humanitarian action. It provides internationally accepted guidance across key sectors, including Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Food Security and Nutrition, Shelter and Settlements, and Health. The publication of the Bangla edition is a significant step towards making these global humanitarian standards more accessible to frontline responders. It will help strengthen locally led humanitarian action and promote more effective, accountable, and dignified humanitarian responses across Bangladesh.
As a member of the CHS Alliance, Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) was proud to contribute to the discussions and share its technical expertise throughout the process. We are also pleased that Md. Mosheur Rahman successfully completed the Training of Trainers programme and is now well positioned to disseminate the knowledge and promote the application of the Sphere standards among a wider audience. This achievement reflects the collective commitment of the Government of Bangladesh, UN agencies, national and international NGOs, humanitarian clusters, technical experts, and development partners. Their collaboration demonstrates the importance of working together to advance high-quality, accountable, and people-centred humanitarian action.
