We deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Khairul Islam, Regional Director of WaterAid. His departure is an immense loss not only to his family and colleagues, but also to the wider development community of Bangladesh and beyond.
Dr. Khairul Islam was much more than a respected development professional to us. He was our mentor, guide and a true friend of ESDO. His wisdom, humility, encouragement and lifelong commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable and underserved people inspired us deeply and helped shape our journey in the development sector.
His contribution to WASH, public health and sustainable development has left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire generations of development practitioners.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family, colleagues at WaterAid, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
We have lost a mentor and an extraordinary human being, but his values, vision and legacy will remain with us forever.
